T Paul Sek
After getting a childhood start under his father’s tutelage by biannually staining his family’s Maine home, Paul Sek traveled across the country, painting in every facet of the industry. Paul’s journeys lead him to work in numerous settings, ranging from colonial mansion restorations to painting airport hangers, and gave him an exceptional talent for both efficient and detail-oriented work. Since settling in Santa Cruz, California in 1989, Paul has worked on thousands of homes in the Monterey Bay area, applying and expanding upon his acquired knowledge to produce award-winning results.
In 2005 Paul was sent to the hospital with lacquer-poisoning due to prolonged toxic lacquer exposure on a job site. Paul and his wife and business partner, Debbie Sek, switched over to the alternative, non-toxic materials they had already begun researching and they never looked back. Working in a safer environment, and helping to create them for his clients, has reinvigorated Paul’s enthusiasm for his profession, the results of which are evident in his work. In 2009 and 2010 Paul was voted Santa Cruz County’s Best Painter.
